God, what do You want from me?
They went through the region of Phrygia and Galatia and were prevented by the Holy Spirit from speaking the message in the province of Asia.  When they came to Mysia, they tried to go into Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesus did not allow them. So, bypassing Mysia, they came down to Troas. During the night a vision appeared to Paul: a Macedonian man was standing and pleading with him, "Cross over to Macedonia and help us!" After he had seen the vision, we immediately made efforts to set out for Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to evangelize them. (Acts 16:6-10)God’s Clear, General Will

  • Love God with ALL that you are (Matthew 22:36-38)
  • Love others with ALL that you are (Matthew 22:39-40)
  • As you are going, make disciples of Jesus (Matthew 28:18-20)

Points to Ponder

  • God’s “will” is not as mysterious as you might think!
  • We are ALL called to get on this road.
  • As we move down this road, it is easier for God to steer us specifically.
    God’s Personalized, Specific Will
What do you do when you are wandering in the wilderness?
  • Keep moving within God’s clear, general will!
  • Look for the “open door”
  • Wander in the company of a missional community…

Should we rely on visions? NO!!!
Does God still lead people specifically?  YES!!!
What role should others play in the process of determining God’s direction?

  • Validation  (Acts 16:10)
  • Revelation  (Acts 13:1-4)
  • Caution  (Proverbs 12:15; 15:22)

My Typical ProcessPRAY (throughout the journey)Pro’s & Con’s

  • Does this actually extend the kingdom?
  • Does this fit with who I am?

Stay open to “breakthroughs”
Get counsel from the wise
If there is “rightness”, then move by faith
If there is not “rightness”, then wait by faith
