Leader's Guide - Week of April 17 - 23
This week we are looking at our Personality -- the P in our SHAPE, still in the context of the SHAPE vision: to understand who we are so we can become all we were created to be. Major goals of this session are to:
- better understand and appreciate your own personality
- better understand and appreciate the personalities of others in your group
- commit to serving in your group in a way that fits you
Please ask everyone to complete their Experiences Reflection (pages 32 - 35 of the participant book) before your next meeting. However, they should try to do it after the teaching on Experiences on Sunday.
As indicated in your Leader's Guide, please be sure to read and reflect on the section in the participant’s book on Personality and prayerfully think about your own temperament before leading this session. There is a note about taking personality tests on the SHAPE page for this week. There is also a link to 16 prayers there that might give you some insight into the 16 different MBTI types... or at least a humorous look at them. You might find some useful background information about personality and temperaments at these links:

At the Keirsey site there is an interesting evaluation of how Disneyland appeals to all four temperaments. You can also read abreviated versions of Keirsey's description of the four temperaments at this site (and you'll find links there to descriptions from Keirsey of all 16 types). Note that placing these links here does not indicate we endorse everything on these sites, just that we think you might gain some useful information there about personality types. Finally, for dog lovers, we offer this analogy between the four temperaments and some of your canine friends. |
