Cradle to the Cross
Who is He? & Why did he come?

Who is this?
In the beginning was the word,
and the word was with God,
            and the word was God.
He was with God in the beginning.
                        Through him all things were made;
without him nothing was made that has been made.
John 1:1-3

Who is this?
¨     For to us a child is born…and he will be called… , Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. – Isaiah 9:6
¨     …what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit…he will save his people from their sins…Immanuel…God with us. – Matthew 1:20-23
¨     Who being in very nature God,…being made in human likeness… - Philippians 2:5-8
¨     For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him... – Colossians 1:13-20

Who is this?
¨     “I tell you the truth…before Abraham was born, I am!” – John 8:58-59
¨     “We are not stoning you for any of these [great miracles]…but for blasphemy because you, a mere man, claim to be God.” – John 10:31-32,36-39
¨     “Tell us if you are the Christ, the son of God.” “Yes, it is as you say…” – Matthew 26:63-66
ØWhat do you hear Jesus saying?

Where are we?
In him was life,
and that life was the light of men.
The light shines in the darkness,
and the darkness has not overcome it.
                                                                                    John 1:4-5

Where are we?
¨     As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins… - Ephesians 2:1
¨     For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. – Colossians 1:13-14

Ø Do I see God bringing light into my situation? If not, which way am I looking?

Where are we?
He was in the world,
and though the world was made through him,
the world did not recognize him.
He came to that which was his own,
but his own did not receive him.
                                                                                    John 1:10-11

Ø Am I rejecting or receiving him into his rightful place in my heart/life?

Why did he do this?
Yet to all who received him,
to those who believed in his name,
he gave the right to become children of God—
children born not of natural descent,
                        nor of human decision
                        nor of a husband’s will
                        but born of God.
                                                                                    John 1:12-13
Ø Will I trust Him?
