• God speaks when He seems silent:

o Remember the Scriptures speak to our deepest needs:
? When we cannot talk it through, God is poised to enter the conversation.
? Jesus believed that it was important to let the Word speak to the story we find ourselves in.
? My pain is not the point; What God is doing is the point.
• God’s in control when the world seems crazy,
o Remember the power of the Gospel.
? For Jesus, there was no Crown until he had endured the Cross.
? The Gospel is not about what makes sense to us rational people, or success in human terms, or my happiness.
? Paul: “I am not ashamed of the Gospel, it is the power of God unto salvation…”
• He is present when he seems absent.
o Remember that Jesus is present, here and now.
? Though we think he is far away, he hears us and speaks with us.
? The Holy Spirit uses the Scriptures to make us passionate about what the Trinity is up to in our world.
? The breaking of the bread is present reminder of Jesus’ power over death and his presence with the community of believers.
