About New Hope Church
Our Mission:
New Hope Community Church is pursuing relationships that change the world. Jesus gave clear "marching orders" to His Church and this is our way of stating our commitment to those instructions. Most Christians refer to this as "the Great Commission" and it is most clearly stated in Matthew 28:18-20. We encourage people to become fully devoted followers of Jesus by pursuing vital, growing relationships with God, with each other and with those who have not yet entrusted their lives to Christ (Matthew 22:36-40).
Our Vision:
We are committed to advancing the Gospel by multiplying disciples, communities, and servant leaders who are committed to doing LIFE together. Since the church’s start as a small group in 1987, New Hope has valued authentic relationships expressed through personal discipleship and purposeful, intimate communities. From the beginning the Church has desired not only that people connect with God and with each other, but also are equipped to be a part of advancing the Gospel in our world. For more about doing “LIFE” together, see the explanation of the LIFE acronym below.
Our Organization:
New Hope is an independent, self-governing, self-supporting local Church. There is no authority structure beyond this Church that dictates what we must believe or do. The Church is led by a team of elders who share the responsibility for overseeing the Church’s teaching, life and work. Ministry teams are organized as needed in the life of the Church to make it possible to fulfill our mission and vision. Every member of New Hope is encouraged to be vitally involved in the work of Christ in and through this expression of His Church.
We meet together on Sunday mornings from 10:00-11:30am for Central Gatherings and KidsLIFE (for birth thru 6th Grade). Sometimes available Sunday mornings is LIFE University: classes for everyone 7th Grade and above (only available when in session). Besides meeting on Sunday mornings, the Church builds itself up and carries out its work in several other ways.

Extending LIFE to others
L.I.F.E. Groups, our small group ministry, meet throughout the week in the homes of members and friends providing opportunities to build relationships and encourage each other in Christ. There are other ministry opportunities for children, youth, college students and adults that meet throughout the week that are consistent with our mission. More information on activities in the life of New Hope may be learned by talking to a church elder, staff member, or by contacting the Church office.
New Hope intends to be a growing local network of people who reflect the demographics of our community. We strive to provide a healthy local Church connection for residents of the Manhattan area, students at Kansas State University and military personnel and their families at Fort Riley. We also intend to make a difference in the lives of people regionally, nationally and around the world through those who leave New Hope for other places and through partner relationships with other churches and organizations.

Membership & Servant Team:
New Hope does not have a traditional membership process. We believe that when a person regularly participates in our church’s Central Gatherings or LIFE Groups they are inherently asking to be led to better know and become more like Christ. So, in this sense, anyone who regularly attends New Hope is considered a “member.” However, we do offer a high-commitment group called the Servant Team. The Servant Team is made up of vested and active servants, uniting to glorify God by together fulfilling His vision for New Hope Church. A key to fulfilling our corporate vision is the multiplication of these servant-leaders. Servant Team members have participated in a training process, have a defined ministry role, are plugged into a LIFE Group, and have committed to live according to the Servant Covenant. Servant Team members fulfill a role similar to what the New Testament calls “deacons” (fittingly, the term “deacon” means “servant”). If you'd like more info about the Servant Team, please talk to a staff/elder or your LIFE Group leader (or email us at newhope@newhopeks.org).
